Reduction of Standby Power Consumption
One of the key environmental impacts when using multifunctional products and printers is electric power consumption. Network computers used at offices, in particular, are commonly left on standby at all times. Therefore, reducing standby power consumption is an important issue in environmentally conscious product development.
To this end, KYOCERA Document Solutions has developed an energy-saving controller allowing the most efficient and low-power network monitoring and power control on standby.
Reduction of Toner Consumption
Regarding toner, the only consumable in our printers, KYOCERA Document Solutions is striving to reduce emissions of greenhouse gas, one of the causes of global warming, by designing printers so that they can decrease toner consumption while at the same time maintaining or improving image quality. Since the launch of the TASKalfa 500ci series, in January 2009, a newly developed toner has been used with uniform and smooth particles that deliver finer definition and higher clarity, while at the same time reducing toner consumption by 30%.
Reduction of warm-up time
Reducing warm-up time by almost half compared to that of conventional models
In the fixing unit, which melts toner to affix it to the paper, newly developed fixing technology utilizing a thin and small-diameter heating roller has reduced warm-up time by almost half compared to that of conventional models. The new technology has enabled a reduction in the time required to recover the printer from standby mode and start printing, while at the same time achieving energy saving.
